About The Event

More than a century ago, prominent businessman Herbert Gray Torrey designed a train depot and park nestled in the small industrial village of Stirling resplendent with botanical plantings and a fountain. Unrelated, but nearby, was the Cooper family burial grounds that included the grave of Revolutionary War Captain Peter Layton.

Visit us at Stirling to hear how the park and an ancient tombstone reveal a rich and unexpected history

in Women's Rights, the creation of a new village, and the beginnings of environmental awareness.
