There are many ways to contribute. The easiest thing to do is to talk to your friends and neighbors. Urge them to vote YES on Municipal Question #1 on November 7, 2006. This proposal modifies the existing Open Space rules to allow for Historic Preservation. It will allow Open Space money to be allocated to the Old Town Hall restoration and preservation project. It will not raise your taxes.
The Historical Society has taken the lead in funding the effort. This commitment for lawn signs, extra space at the Millington Street Fair booth, giveaways with messages, sponsoring a coloring contest for students, printing postcards, mailings, all cost money. The Society and some of its individual members have advanced close to $1,000 in funds to get the effort rolling. More is needed. If you can make a donation to the effort it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount from a few dollars upward helps.
We have 50 lawn signs looking for homes. Signs are 24" x 24" with wire legs. Call Bill Watts at 908-647-6456 or email Larry Fast to make arrangements. Though not a requirement to get a sign, if possible we suggest a $10 contribution for each sign to cover its printing costs. (Thank you). We also have "Save Old Town Hall" stickers, pencils and rulers.
