ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Outstanding center front door
with fan light inside dentil pediment. Patterned
cornice in Adamesque design. Two-story kitchen wing
with front porch on Greek Revival style
piers.
Large corner lot with several enormous specimen trees. House faces south on the crest of Long Hill. Ruinous formal garden behind house.
SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT
SIGNIFICANCE & HISTORICAL INFORMATION The house was the property of A. Cooper through the 19th century, according to maps of the area. Architecturally, it is the most formal and imposing of Passaic Township's surviving 18th century buildings. The cornice and front door enframement are exceptional designs.
