DESCRIPTION / SIGNIFICANCE

Just east of the intersection of Long Hill Road, Basking Ridge Road and Old Forge Road, there is a cluster of modest 19th Century frame buildings. The 1868 Atlas indicates that a wagon shop and blacksmith shop were operative in buildings along here, as well as the several residences which still exist.

COMMENTS:

Long Hill Road is a narrow country road with extremely heavy traffic, as it is the main route to and through Long Hill Township. These small buildings were constructed close to the road and are so threatened by an road widening project.
