Millington had a public school from the early 19th century. The first building used as a school is now the Long Hill Township Town Hall (see site survey #55). Classes were held in that frame one-room school until 1933 when this school was opened. The Colonial Revival styling of the Millington School was typical for educational buildings of the first half of the 20th century. It is a near twin to the Gillette School (see site survey #1430-28). A probable WPA project.
