ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: House has eyebrow windows on
facade, shed roof facade porch with jigsaw
brackets, and vertical paneled doors on facade.
Cornerstone marked "J.H. 1793".
Faces south on road now dead-end leading to swamp. 1 1/2 story frame barn, vertical siding at east side of property.
SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT
At southern edge of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
A well-preserved example of regional vernacular architecture. This house is reputed to have been built by Jacob High in 1793. The farm passed through several families in the 19th century until it was purchased by the Kutcher family in 1884. They retained the property until the 1960s. An addition was made to the rear in 1976.
