SIGNIFICANCE & HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Kutcher family had a house on this site in the 19th century according to maps of the area. It seems likely that a vernacular Federal style house (of which, locally, the gambrel roof is a hallmark) was the original, extensively remodeled in the late 19th century with Queen Anne style details. A fire in the house in 1948 caused a great deal of the interior to be rebuilt.

The US Fish & Wildlife Service has taken ownership of the site and as of 2002 intends to demolish the building since they have no use for it.
